With this week’s box office debut of Sex and The City 2, we’ve received a deluge of e-mails asking who makes the gold
aviator sunglasses that Sarah Jessica Parker wears in her reprise of the Carrie Bradshaw role in Sex and The City 2?
The good news is we’ve identified Carrie’s gold aviators from SATC 2: They are Mykita & Bernhard Willhelm’s “Franz” Limited-Edition Aviator Sheet-Metal Sunglasses ($525.)
The bad news is you’ll likely be waiting some time to get your hands on these sunglasses (maybe as long as the end of summer.) The Mykitas have been on back order at Patricia Fields since the gold sunglasses first showed up on Sarah Jessica Parker in advanced publicity shots last year. No word on when they’ll be available.
Although Urban Optiques doesn’t carry Mykita, the lens coating technology that is used on the Mykita “Franz” Limited-Edition Gold Aviator sunglasses in Sex and The City 2 was actually developed by Sama Eyewear out of Los Angeles and is currently available on a wide-range of Sama, Badgley Mischka and Loree Rodkin eyeCouture models at Urban Optiques.
Urban Optiques is thrilled to provide a pair of exquisite Badgley Mischka “Lola” Sunglasses with
custom-made Sama couture lenses in 24K gold to the Keith Hamm Foundation’s live auction tomorrow night during its yearly charity benefit. A free eye exam from Urban Optiques is also included in the package.
The entire Badgley Mischka sunglasses and eye exam package has a retail value of $750.00, although auction participants have a shot at getting it for substantially less. The reserve is still being set, but bidding will likely begin at between $100 and $150.
The Keith Hamm Foundation was founded by Urban Optiques client Mark Miller, in honor of his partner of 15 years, Keith Hamm, who lost his fight with lymphoma in July 2006.
Ticket’s for the annual charity dinner event at the Rock Financial Showplace are still available. For details, visit The Keith Hamm Foundation website. If you can’t attend the event, you can also consider donating online here.
We snapped a few pictures of the sunglasses (yes, the zebra striped box comes with it) so you can check them out:

Not only does the collection have a fantastic soundtrack from Ra Ra Riot and gorgeous clothing, but it also features some amazing eyewear from Badgley Mischka by Sama.

The Badgley Mischka Perry Sunglasses with 24K gold lenses just seem to get hotter every day. First spotted on Angelina Jolie over a year ago, the suns got a huge boost when they appeared in Rihanna’s “So Hard” video in November of last year.
And then we see this super lux aviator frame pop up yet again on Angelina in this clip of Jolie, Brad Pitt and the kids taken in Venice over the holidays (courtesy of Access Hollywood):
Love the voice-over from Access Hollywood: “Put the rumors to rest: Brad, Angie and the kids cruising the canals of Italy all bundled up and wearing sunglasses.”
While we love the shades, we do find it funny that Angelina and Brad Pitt seem to be the only ones on the streets of Venice wearing sunglasses …
In early January we noticed an upsurge in people asking about the Badgley Mischka Perry sunglasses.
But not just the usual Badgley Mischka Perrys — clients kept asking whether we stocked the gold Perry with gold lenses.
At first, we couldn’t quite understand the sudden interest.
Angelina Jolie had been spotted earlier sported the gold Badgley Mischka Perry with gold mirror lenses, and that caused a minor uptick in sales, but nothing like the buzz we saw over the past two months.
And then we noticed something in Rihanna’s “So Hard” video:
Yes, those gold sunglasses on the very lovely Rihanna are Badgley Mischka Perrys.
Guys, a Valentines Day Gift Tip: Next to shoes and handbags, there is only one other accessory that a woman can’t have to many of … Sunglasses.
So while flowers are beautiful and chocolate is delicious, sunglasses are eternal.
Well, maybe not eternal, but they have a longer shelf life than roses or Godivas.
So if you’re scratching your head over what to buy your sweetie this Valentines Day, Urban Optiques is going to take the guesswork out of picking out the perfect Valentine’s Day gift by recommending seven sunglasses that are sure to please even the most discriminating woman.
All of these sunglasses are currently in-stock at Urban Optiques. In some cases, we have certain models in other colors, so please call for more information. We stock more than 100 designer fashion and couture sunglasses, so if you don’t see the perfect Valentine’s shade here, there’s a good chance we’ll have it.
And ff your sweetheart is particularly picky, gift certificates are also available.
If the “Queenie” sunglass from Chrome Hearts is good enough for bored hotel heiresses like Paris Hilton, it’s sure to be perfect for your fashion-conscious sweetheart.
All jesting aside, this is a really fabulous, big sunglass with a unique square-ish frame that works on just about every face shape. So if her sunglass collection is filled with giant round sunglasses, she’ll love the “Queenie” because it’s still big and dramatic, but breaks the mold in terms of shape.
In other words, it’s a sunglass that her girlfriends won’t have. BIG points for you.
We have the Queenie from Chrome Hearts in “Cherry Stripe.”
The Badgley Mischka line of couture eyewear occupies a special place in The Visionista’s heart.
I’m not certain what it is, but Badgley Mischka eyewear continues to be one of my favorite luxury sunglass and ophthalmic lines that we offer at Urban Optiques.
While their eyewear line doesn’t generate the buzz of a Chanel or Tom Ford, it really should.
In my opinion, it’s one of the best kept eyewear secrets out there: Badgley Mischka’s eyewear is glamorous and beautifully-constructed and they definitely get “seen.”
Plus, they travel well — I’m currently wearing a gorgeous pair of Badgley Mischka “Marilyn” in pearl (with tiny little, subtle crystals along the temples) and they look amazing with everything from jeans to a well-tailored skirt-suit. I get tons of compliments whenever I have them on.
Which brings me to today’s “Designer Sunglass of the Week”: The Badgley Mischka “Dorothy.”
