Dr. Michelle
Owner and Optometrist, Urban Optiques Vision
Dr. Michelle Calder Cardwell is the Lead Optometrist and owner of Urban Optiques Vision. She received her Doctor of Optometry fromThe Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University, is a state licensed optometrist specializing in ocular disease diagnosis and treatment, contact lenses and vision therapy. Dr. Michelle also writes the popular “The Visionista” blog and is frequently interviewed by the media around eye and vision care topics. In her free time she’s a collector of vintage eyeglasses, loves cats and makes to-die-for homemade spaghetti.
Lindsey
General Practice Manager and Lead Optician
Our newest addition to the team, Lindsey is responsible for running the day-to-day operations at Urban Optiques as well as leading the optician team. Her passion is making sure that you’re matched with phenomenal eyewear that lets you see and be seen. Lindsey joins us from one of Metro-Detroit’s top performing vision chains (we’ll let you guess who), where she was general manager for four years and helped put her store in the Top 20% of all their locations nationally. Outside of eyewear, Lindsey’s other love is English Bulldogs (and all dogs for that matter.)
Jay
Optical Consultant & Jack of All Trades
Jay is the guy who helps get things done around Urban Optiques. From keeping the computers running, to helping match you with the perfect eyeglasses, to scheduling, fielding phone calls and troubleshooting, there really isn’t anything that we (or you) can’t throw at Jay that he won’t solve. Plus he has a great attitude and rapport with clients!
Matt
Practice Marketing & Technology
Matt is responsible for getting the word out about Urban Optiques and keeping the technology running. Matt has spent nearly 15 years in marketing, ten of that in online and interactive marketing. Matt’s hobbies include reading — especially WWII history — working out, cooking and coming up with ways to promote Urban Optiques (in his spare time.)
Claire
Pre-Optometry Associate
Claire is our Pre-Optometry Associate. What does that mean? Well it means she wants to be an optometrist and is working at Urban Optiques to learn everything she can about vision care and the ins-and-outs of running a practice. Claire is currently a student at Oakland University and (we think) one of Optometry’s future young stars. You’ll find Claire performing everything from tech work to helping out with frame fittings, special events and client service. Oh, did we mention Claire love big, funky “dork” glasses (when she’s not sporting the FREDs?)
